Things to focus on:
- Include vlogging/social media/YouTube star
- People who have had a bad experience with social media e.g., scams, mental health issues, physical health problems.
- Scams – vulnerable people, elderly – interview – how technology has impacted their lives in a negative way – money taken – taken advantage of/ cut to shot of that person actually on their computer scrolling through emails?
- Mental health – Ideas about the ‘perfect life’, beauty standards, celebrities as role models - interview
- Physical health – Too much screen time, headaches, trouble sleeping – could speak to a doctor/expert
- Coronavirus – How social media has been useful during lockdown e.g. keeping in touch with friends and family, school work. How social media has created bad habits during lockdown e.g. too much screen time, laziness, online shopping.
Must haves:
- At least 40 different shot types e.g.: close-up, mid-shot, long-shot, extreme long-shot, low-angle, high-angle, pan, shallow focus, deep focus, eye-line match, over the shoulder-shot, tilt, dolly, zoom, Dutch angle/tilt, two-shot
- Shot plan/list should have a table including – shot number, location, shot type, camera angle, camera movement and shot description (subject, action, lighting etc.)
Shot ideas:
- Shot of me/someone using a device with the documentary logo as the wallpaper, click on an app/link and this takes me to an interview or another scene.
- Shot of a phone/device light up in the dark and then text (facts about technology) floats/slides onto the screen with percentages etc.
- Interview with a doctor/practice nurse – someone can be wearing a mask – link to coronavirus?
- Shot of member of the public/YouTube star explaining how they have used much more internet over lockdown and eyesight has worsened?
- Positives of social media – keeping in touch with friend, examples of social media platforms displayed on the screen as they say each kind of platform
- Screen recordings?
- Fade in/montage of different interviews
- Me sitting with an interviewee – lots of shot types e.g. close ups of both faces, different angles, clear background.
- Maybe a drone shot
